Final Reflection
After working on this project i found it difficult at times because i did not know how to use Toon Boom. But i remained positive and gave it a go. At times i wasn't happy with some of my animation so i referred to the Richard Williams book which broke everything down. Apart from that i enjoyed this project, i got good feedback from Oli. He was very impressed with the work that i produced. He just told me to extend the ending and having the 2 character in the ring at the same time. The reason he told us to do this is because the viewers may get confused. It was also good working with Iredia because we encouraged each other, even though at times we were going through difficulties. We were in everyday morning to late evening because we were so into the project. When doing this project i wanted to do everything as if i was in the industry.I wanted to do everything to time scale, look at things from the audiences perspective. I even got feedback from some people in the class in ways i could improve my work. For legal reasons i can not put certain bits online, because oflegal reasons.

I have gone to see Oli to get some feedback on my work. I showed him all the animation i have done so far, and he seemed impressed with what i have done so far. He gave me some useful tips i can do to improve my work. There is a section near the ending where the 2 characters run into each other. Oli said it is a bit confusing having that happen straight away. So he wants me to have a shot with the 2 characters in the boxing ring at the same time.

Showreel
For my show reel i have started to think about what i want to put on my show reel. I want to put some of my previous work from first year such as my character animation and walk cycle. I even want to put some of my sketches that i do in my spare time. I want to also put work that i have done this year such as my environments project, and my short animation ident.I am also going to think care fully about how i composite everything.

Run cycle
Because i am going to have to do a run cycle i am going to look at the Richard Williams book and find out what it takes to do an actual run cycle. I am going to look at timeing this is going to be crucial for my piece of animation, and it is going to be very quick because it is part of the ending.

Reflection
When animating this scene i thought hard and carefully about it. because this scene is similar to a western, i wanted the timeing to be to be okay. When i first started animating the eyes closing and the eyebrows frowning it was all to quick. So i played with the timing a bit more and i got it looking how i wanted it to look. The reason why i don't want it too be too quick is because Oli told us not too reveal the characters too early, but too prolong it.

Western

For one of my scenes there is going to be a scene where there is going to be a close up of 2 characters staring at each other. Our client Oli told us to look at westerns where there is build up, he also didn't want us to reveal the character to early. So what i intend to do is look at westerns movies such as this one and look at how each characters look at each other, and how the other character reacts. This is Clint Eastwood who is very popular for doing westerns very well, especially building up tension. www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5VXWr2Lwkc&feature=related

Key Poses
Before i started animating i mapped out my key poses. I remembered this advise in first year. I did a quick block out on paper of my key poses.I thought it would also make things much easier when animating, because i would have the shapes in front of me already. Now that i have my key poses i have started to animate my character jumping on the spot ready to box. The animation is looking okay to me, i have asked for feedback from Iredia and he thinks it is good. He gave me some feedback which was that it was the wrong type of jump. So i decided not to look at the Richard Williams book, and look at someone jumping on the spot. So i got my younger brother to jump on the spot, and i then referenced from that.

This is the other character that the Blue Balloon will be fighting. I didn't want the other character to look too aggressive compared to the blue balloon, i wanted this character to be the opposite. I wanted this character to look dopy, dumb, etc. So i looked at different characters such as Goofy. I think this has more of an impact on the animation, seeing a character who is very searious, and one who looks like he is having fun.
Reflection
So far using Toon Boom at first was a bit difficult, especially when i specialize in 3D. At first i thought it would be a nightmare. But i wanted to be positive in my approach to using it. So i went back to the Richard Wiliams book and looked at the 12 principles of animation. In paticular i looked at key poses and anticipation. Good animations have strong key poses. This is very crucial for the part i have to animate with the character jumping on the spot. Another principle i looked at was timing, i don't want the bit i am animating to be to quick or too slow i want the timeing to be on point, so i am looking into timing. I also want to animate the top of the balloons head, which will involve follow through animation. This would have more of an effect on the animation.
